During this COVID-19 period, I have been thinking a lot. To summarize these thoughts into one single word, it would be “essence”. This global pandemic has helped me understand how everything can be reduced down to the essentials.

But we have to be careful not to view things in dichotomy. Essential workers vs non-essential workers. Singaporeans vs foreign workers. China vs Western Countries. On the contrary, the opposite is true. This pandemic has shown us how interconnected we are.

For a lot of us, we are connected by the food that we eat. And it is also the absolutely essential part of our lives. That’s why, I know how blessed I am to have my wife. She is such a marvelous chef! The above picture is just a sample of the super nice food she cooks for me everyday.

What are you thankful for?

Eric’s first dragonfly friend flew into our home yesterday (11th May 2020). In fact, Ma Nyo Mi saw it since morning. But we noticed its wings fluttering sound only during dinner time. My brave wife caught it after dinner and put it into the plastic container above.

Eric seems to like it a lot. But, after a while, it was time to let it go. We brought it out to the balcony and freed Eric’s first dragonfly friend.

Yesterday, 3rd May 2020, marks the 8th anniversary of us getting together. Wah.. time flew past! 8 years later, we are married, gotten our own home and have EE and Eric added to the family. All this wouldn’t have been possible if honey had not said “yes” back in 2012. To all the happy memories ahead of us, honey!
